I AM blessed to be able to take a class with an amazing, joy-filled poet who speaks her truth in love, who teaches with encouragement and empowerment. Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, is aptly described as “a word-woman, poet, teacher and storyteller.”
I’m taking the class through my alma mater, One Spirit Learning Alliance. They offer great workshops that are open to the public and spiritually-grounded in the “One Spirit” or “Golden Thread of Love” that unites world religions and spiritualities.
During the first night of class, I was remembering collaborating with my colleague, Patti Russo, an intergenerational poetry therapist, who opened my heart to the joy and beauty of poetry!
Inspired by Rosemerry’s teachings AND remembering my son’s Art Doodle daily challenge in October AND informed by own experience of cultivating spiritual practices, I committed to writing a poem every day for the month of January.
From January 7 - Snowflakes
A million in our yard.
Each one so unique
So fragile
So precious
So small individually
But, they join
edge to edge
And soon
They pile up…
inches of snow
They cover the walkways
The trees bend with their weight
like a see-saw
Are they playing?
Is it fun?
What does it feel like?
Each of us
So unique
So fragile
So precious
So small on mother earth’s globe
Yet we too join
hands to hands
shoulder to shoulder
heart to heart
What do we create?
What will we transform?
Can we play?
How are we transforming
our world
together
Can we choose
love
Can we choose
life
Can we choose
beauty
Can we choose…
together
