Mother Cabrini

From Rev. AndreaGrace:

This text came from a dear friend last week!

Earlier this week, the class I co-teach (with my awesome Mom) took a fieldtrip to see “Cabrini” – the movie about Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini! She lived around the turn of the 1900 century, established orphanages, hospitals, schools and more in 6 - six – continents!

We were all so moved by Mother Cabrini’s life… and the way it was told!  The acting, cinematography and music were all incredible! I loved hearing bits of Italian spoken (with subtitles in English) and Mother Cabrini being referred to as “Francesca!” I just wish they showed more of her vibrant prayer life that empowered the work she did.

In response to Mother Cabrini and the movie, I penned this acrostic poem:

Motivated by Divine Love,

Other-ing she did not do.

Trusting in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she was a

Hero for the immigrants and the generations.

Empathetic and empowering, she saw the Divine dignity of each person. She was

Responsive to the people and needs before her.

Courageous, to put it mildly, Mother Cabrini was

A force of Divine Nature who

Built “An Empire of Hope” and a

Religious order that served in 6 continents.

Indefatigable, even though she suffered from serious health issues, she was

News-worthy - then and now.

Indescribable and uncontainable – may Mother Cabrini’s legacy and way of being continue!

I hope and pray that every person in the United States will know her name, her impact and her approach!

“Let’s go girls!” PLEASE go see the movie in the theaters! Experience the full, profound effect of this gem AND support movies that are life-giving and inspiring!
