Blessing the Newlyweds: Evan and Emily

It was a crisp fall afternoon with 100+ people gathered under the tent with twinkling lights, in front of a huge oak tree with autumn colored leaves and pumpkins galore. It was just the way Emily and Evan dreamed it would be – the much-awaited wedding in their parents’ backyard with those in their circle of love.

The bride and groom hold their wedding bands as Rev. AndreaGrace blesses them.

It was a joy to plan and then officiate at Evan and Emily’s interfaith wedding. Rev. AndreaGrace recognizes that there are many names, images and expressions for the Holy One. When she is working with a family for a wedding, funeral or milestone blessing, Rev. AndreaGrace explores the family’s image of the Divine and reflects that in the ceremony. She always begins with a warm welcome to all who come and to the Divine. She includes readings and songs that the family chooses and a reflection. She ends with a blessing.

Won’t you join me in blessing this couple?

God - Creator of Acorns and Oak Trees and each of us-

we thank you for the gift of each person gathered here –

especially Emily and Evan

and Lukas.

Please bless their marriage –

that their roots will grow deeper,

that their branches will grow larger and stronger,

that their blossoms may be more beautiful and bountiful.

May their days be filled with peace, joy, hope and love.

May they remain healthy in body, mind and spirit.

And God – please bless each person here – that each of us may know your love more intimately and share it more abundantly. In all of Your Numerous Holy Names we pray. Amen.
